The Arulmigu Muthumariamman Temple, located in Thuravikkadu village, Peravurani Taluk, Thanjavur District, is a highly significant place of worship. Devotees visit this sacred site to find relief from their grievances and to pray for a healthy, disease-free life.
The Goddess presiding over Thuravikkadu village is regarded as an “Ocean of Mercy,” showering her blessings on all who seek her. It is a deep-rooted belief among devotees that Muthumariamman acts as a divine healer, particularly for heat-related ailments such as smallpox and measles.
The temple is unique for its adherence to traditional rural worship methods, where rituals and pujas are conducted with immense devotion and strict discipline. She is revered both as the Guardian Deity of the region and a divine physician.
Maha Kumbhabishekam: The Grand Consecration (Maha Kumbhabishekam) was celebrated with great splendor on Sunday, February 8, 2026, featuring special Yagasala pujas.
The Panguni Festival is the most celebrated event at this temple. Key highlights include:
Bali Peedam: The sacrificial altar located at the entrance, as per temple architectural traditions.
Balamurugan: A beautiful sculpture of Lord Murugan in his youthful form.

Muthumariamman: The main presiding deity of the temple in her divine form.

Vinayagar: A sculpture of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.

Devotees pray here for the cure of chronic diseases, the accumulation of family prosperity, and the blessing of children. Once their prayers are answered, devotees fulfill their vows by carrying milk pots or offering Maavilakku (lamp made of rice flour and jaggery).
Pujas are conducted daily during the morning and evening. During festival seasons, the temple remains open throughout the day for pilgrims.
