In that vein, here you’ll find some of the significant Hindu festivals and fasting days that we will be celebrating and observing in the upcoming month of July 2025. On these days, let us worship the divine and receive immense blessings.

Hindu Fasting Days in July 2025

July 01 – Sashti Vratam: This is a day for observing Sashti Vratam in remembrance of Lord Muruga. Worshipping Lord Muruga on this day bestows all kinds of prosperity.

July 02 – Aani Uthiram (Aani Thirumanjanam): The Uthiram star in the month of Aani is very auspicious for Lord Shiva. Aani Thirumanjanam is celebrated with great grandeur, especially at the Chidambaram Natarajar Temple. Worshipping Lord Shiva on this day grants salvation.

July 06Chaturmasya Vratam Begins, Ekadasi Vratam:

  • Chaturmasya Vratam Begins: This is a four-month fasting period, mostly observed by sanyasis and some Vaishnavites. During this period, greater importance is given to spiritual activities.
  • Ekadasi Vratam: The auspicious Ekadasi Vratam for Lord Perumal falls on this day. Observing a fast on Ekadasi and worshipping Lord Mahavishnu absolves sins and grants liberation.

July 08 – Pradosham: An extremely auspicious Pradosham day for Lord Shiva. Worshipping Nandi Bhagavan and Lord Shiva in the evening on this day yields great benefits.

July 10 – Pournami (Full Moon), Vyazha Pooja:

  • Pournami: This day coincides with the Pournami tithi (full moon phase). Worshipping the divine on Pournami brings peace of mind.
  • Vyazha Pooja: As Pournami coincides with a Thursday, which is auspicious for Guru Bhagavan, performing Guru Pooja is special.

July 13 – Thiruvonam Vratam: The auspicious Thiruvonam star day for Lord Mahavishnu. Worshipping Lord Perumal on this day is special.

July 14 – Sankatahara Chathurthi Vratam: The auspicious Sankatahara Chathurthi Vratam for Lord Ganesha is observed on this day. Observing a fast and worshipping Lord Ganesha on this day removes obstacles and brings good fortune.

July 16 – Karka Sankranti, Dakshinayana Punyakalam:

  • Karka Sankranti: The day when the Sun transits into the Cancer (Karka) zodiac sign.
  • Dakshinayana Punyakalam: The day when the Sun begins its southward journey. This period is considered the night for the Devas (celestial beings) and an auspicious time for ancestors (Pitrus). Charitable deeds and ancestral rites performed during this time are highly meritorious.

July 17 – Sabarimala Temple Opens: The day when the Sabarimala Ayyappan temple opens for monthly pujas.

July 20 – Aadi Krithigai, Karthigai Vratam:

  • Aadi Krithigai: The very auspicious Aadi Krithigai festival for Lord Muruga. Worshipping Lord Muruga on this day bestows special benefits.
  • Karthigai Vratam: The auspicious Karthigai star fast for Lord Muruga.

July 21 – Ekadasi Vratam: Another auspicious Ekadasi Vratam for Lord Perumal falls on this day.

July 22 – Pradosham: An auspicious Pradosham day for Lord Shiva.

July 23 – Masa Shivaratri: The Shivaratri that occurs every month. An auspicious day for worshipping Lord Shiva.

July 24 – Amavasya, Aadi Amavasya:

  • Amavasya: An auspicious day for offering tarpanam to ancestors and performing ancestral rites.
  • Aadi Amavasya: The Amavasya in the month of Aadi is very powerful. It is a highly meritorious time for performing ancestral rites for ancestors.

July 25 – Ashadha Navaratri, Chandra Darshan:

  • Ashadha Navaratri: A nine-day Navaratri for worshipping the Goddess. This is an important festival for Shaktas.
  • Chandra Darshan: The day to sight the crescent moon after Amavasya. Sighting the crescent moon brings auspicious results.

July 28 – Naga Chathurthi, Aadi Velli, Chathurthi Vratam, Somavara Vratam:

  • Naga Chathurthi: An auspicious day for worshipping the Naga deities. It is good for those with Rahu-Ketu dosha to worship on this day.
  • Aadi Velli: Fridays in the month of Aadi are highly special for Amman (Goddess) worship.
  • Chathurthi Vratam: The auspicious Chathurthi Vratam for worshipping Lord Ganesha.
  • Somavara Vratam: Monday is an auspicious day for Lord Shiva.

July 29 – Naga Panchami, Garuda Panchami:

  • Naga Panchami: An extremely auspicious Panchami tithi for worshipping the Naga deities.
  • Garuda Panchami: An auspicious day for worshipping Lord Garuda.

July 30 – Sashti Vratam: Another day for observing Sashti Vratam in remembrance of Lord Muruga.
