Located just 1.5 kilometers from our home in Chennai, this temple is truly a hidden spiritual treasure. Last week (25 July 2026), my wife, who regularly writes spiritual articles for our website, and I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful temple and seek the blessings of Lord Hanuman.
Amid the hustle and bustle of city life, the temple offered us an incredible sense of peace, positivity, and divine energy. Through this article, we’d like to share our firsthand darshan experience along with the unique features that make this temple so special.
The biggest attraction of this temple is undoubtedly the awe-inspiring Hanuman idol. Standing 35 feet tall and weighing approximately 150 tons, the idol has been carved from a single stone (monolithic stone).
The massive granite stone was specially brought from Karnataka and sculpted by highly skilled artisans, making it one of the most remarkable Hanuman statues in Chennai.
Most Hanuman temples portray Lord Hanuman standing majestically or carrying the Sanjeevani Mountain.
However, this temple is unique because Hanuman is seated in Padmasana (Lotus Pose) with his eyes gently closed in deep meditation (Yoga Mudra). His calm and serene expression instantly fills devotees with inner peace and spiritual tranquility.
This temple is the result of actor Arjun’s unwavering devotion to Lord Hanuman.
The construction of the temple and the carving of the giant idol took nearly 16 years to complete. After years of dedicated effort, the temple’s Kumbabishekam (Consecration Ceremony) was performed grandly in July 2021.
The moment you step inside the temple, you feel as though you’ve entered a peaceful spiritual retreat rather than a busy city temple.
Beautiful trees, spotless surroundings, and a well-maintained temple complex create an atmosphere of complete serenity.
Since the main deity is installed in an open-air sanctum beneath a beautifully designed canopy, seeing Hanuman meditating under the open sky is an unforgettable experience. The entire setting feels incredibly natural and spiritually uplifting.
As we walked around the temple’s prakaram (circumambulatory path), devotional songs dedicated to Lord Rama and the constant chanting of “Sri Rama” filled the air, making the experience even more divine.
The temple also offers ample parking space, making it convenient for families visiting with children or elderly members.
Apart from the majestic meditation-form Hanuman, the temple complex also houses beautifully maintained shrines dedicated to other deities.
As you enter, you can first seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.
A beautiful shrine of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lakshmana is also located within the temple. Since Hanuman is the greatest devotee of Lord Rama, worshipping Rama and Sita before or after offering prayers to Hanuman makes the spiritual journey even more meaningful.
While walking around the temple, devotees can also worship the Naga (serpent) deities, believed to remove doshas (planetary afflictions) and bless devotees with prosperity and well-being.
The calm, clean, and spiritually charged environment allows visitors to peacefully worship all these deities in one place, creating a deeply fulfilling spiritual experience.
Visiting the temple on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, which are considered especially auspicious for Lord Hanuman, is highly recommended.
