Among all the planets, Lord Sun (Surya Bhagavan) is considered the primal source. It is from Him that all the other planets are said to have originated. It is by the Sun’s gravitational force, the lord of all souls, that the other planets continue to revolve steadily in their respective paths. By understanding the position of the Sun in one’s horoscope and performing simple home remedies accordingly, one can bring about significant positive changes in life.
In a person’s horoscope, the following important aspects are determined mainly through the Sun:
If everyone in society listens when a person speaks, it means the Sun is very strong in that person’s horoscope. On the other hand, if even the head of the family is not heard by those at home, it indicates a loss of authority and weakening of personal influence. Instead of feeling disappointed and thinking, “No one listens to what I say,” one should focus on strengthening the Sun astrologically.
If the Sun is weak in the horoscope, the following issues may arise:
When the Sun combines with other planets, certain significant effects may occur:
If Rahu joins the Sun in the Ascendant, it can create Kalathra Dosha (marital affliction).
For those born with Aquarius (Kumbha) Ascendant, the Sun is the lord of the 7th house. If it is hidden in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house, troubles may arise through the spouse.
If the Sun joins the shadow planets Rahu or Ketu, symbolically associated with serpents, it may lose its full strength and fail to deliver its complete benefic results.
If Venus or Saturn join the Sun and are placed in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th houses, it may also result in unfavorable outcomes.
During Aippasi, the Sun is debilitated in Libra. Children born in this month may face challenges in receiving complete support from the father.
During Aadi, the Sun’s energy is considered reduced. Hence, this too may bring certain weaknesses related to the paternal side.
Those undergoing Sun Mahadasha / Bhukti, or those with a weak Sun in their horoscope, may perform the following remedy to receive good results. Even those with a strong Sun may do this to gain further strength.
Pour this into a five-faced traditional kuthu vilakku (brass lamp) and light it using a lotus stem wick (or a cotton wick if lotus stem is unavailable).
Sacred Kolam
Draw a Sun-related kolam / mandala on a clean spot using wheat flour.
Arrangement
Draw the form of a peacock or a chariot on a copper plate and place it near the kolam. Offer Erukkan flowers (Crown flowers) to the image of Lord Shiva and worship Him.
Naivedyam and Incense
Offer incense by placing dry sandalwood on fire. As naivedyam, offer hot sakkarai pongal (sweet pongal) in a new plate.
While gazing steadily at the flame of the lamp without blinking, pray to Surya Bhagavan to remove your karmic burdens, and chant the following verses 9 times with devotion.
Vaazhi pagalseivon vaazhi oli uruvan
Vaazhiyaor aazhither mannusudar vaazhiyaro
Gnaalam vizhithirappa nallor pugazhuraippak
Kaalam vilakkum kathir.
Kaasinil irulai neekkum kathir oli veesi engum
Poosanai ulakor potrap pusippodu sugathai nalgum
Vaasi ezhudaiya ther mel maha giri valamaai vanda
Desikaa enai ratchippaai sengathiravane potri!
Udhikkindra sengathir uchchi thilagam unarvudaiyor
Mathikkindra maanikkam maathulam podhu malarkkamalai
Thudhikkindra minkodi men kadik kunguma thoyam enna
Vidhikkindra meni Abhiraami endhan vizhuthunaiye.
